Project tracker
Projected lift date: Fall 2028
Home to approximately 970 people on reserve, Asubpeeschoseewagong Netum Anishinabek First Nation, also known as Grassy Narrows First Nation, in Ontario is building a new water treatment plant, with support from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).
There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 210 homes and 16 community buildings:
- a boil water advisory on the Grassy Narrows Public Water System was issued in August 2024 and became long-term in August 2025
The advisory was issued due to low water supply. The community is leading the development of a long-term solution. This includes the construction of a new water treatment plant, intake system, and storage tower, with support from ISC. Construction is underway and is expected to take approximately 2 years.
Once construction is completed and the water quality meets regulatory standards, the community should be able to lift the advisory.
