Share your thoughts: Developing a new Indigenous Housing Strategy
Current Status: Open
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is seeking input to help develop a new, cross government Indigenous Housing Strategy, as announced in Budget 2025. This work will complement existing strategies, including the 10 year National First Nations Housing and Related Infrastructure Strategy. Engagement is expected to take place until June 30, 2026 and will build on what we have heard in previous engagements.
How to participate
Respond to the letter: letters are being sent to First Nations communities on reserve as well as First Nations organizations. The letters are inviting direct input to provide recommendations on the direction and implementation of the Indigenous Housing Strategy.
Attend an engagement session: ISC will work with First Nations partners to leverage, where possible, planned sessions and existing forums for engagement. ISC will also provide opportunities for virtual engagement sessions where live sessions are not scheduled or accessible.
Attend a virtual session
To provide additional opportunities for feedback and questions, Indigenous Services Canada will be hosting weekly virtual drop-in sessions for interested First Nations leadership, community members and organizations.
Virtual drop-in sessions will take place between May 6 to June 30, 2026. Sessions will allow First Nations partners to attend at any time within the 90-minute window to share feedback, comments and questions. These conversations will take place via the Zoom platform. Registration is required for access. The upcoming virtual drop-in sessions will follow as per the schedule below:
